The Video Edition Austria is the first presentation of independent Austrian video art and art video-documentation. It consists of 10 video-tapes and is divided into two parts. Part 1 - the Art Edition - includes 61 contributions from 52 artists and groups of artists collected on 5 videotapes. These videos cover the period from 1969 - the beginnings of Austrian video art - until 1993. Interaction, Media, Construction, Essay, Concept - these are the titles of the programs 1 to 5 of the Art Edition. They are cursory titles, making it possible to draw an imaginary axis over this period of years.
The Documentary Edition is a collection of 20 contributions from 30 artists and groups of artists covering the period from 1980 to 1993. The titles of the 5 programs (tape 6-10) are Art Projects, Urban - Regional, Memory, Facts - Forms, Videoarcheology.
